United Arab Emirates

The seven smaller emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, and Fujairah make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which was merged into a single federal entity on December 2, 1971. Two main orientations influenced the traditional Emirati way of life before the oil financial system’s status quo in the early 1960s: the ocean-oriented subculture that was centered on pearling and sea trading, and the nomadic Bedouins who lived in arid regions and practiced small-scale farming within the larger framework of the desolate tract economic system and subculture. Because of their economic, political, and social interdependence, those subcultures have developed a common way of life and a sense of social identity. The UAE shares important aspects of its subculture with both the wider Arab tradition and its neighboring Arab nations.

Foreign people are permitted to work in a country for a specific amount of time with a work visa. You can apply for a 60-day work visa if you want to work in the UAE or conduct business here. This would allow you to enter the country and start working right away. Through your UAE employer, you must apply for and receive an employment and residency visa during this time. These visas are typically granted for an additional two years. The restrictions that apply may vary depending on the nationality. There might not be many documents to process if you come from a state in the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai work visa types

The type of Visa and document for anyone who intends to work in Dubai would be a Resident Visa and a Labour Card. To obtain these, you must first undergo a medical examination and you will soon be issued a residence visa and then a labour card. A labour card is an identity card that needs to be carried at all times as you may be spot checked by labour officials.

Documents needed for a work permit in Dubai

The type of visa you seek for will determine which specific documents you must submit. Your employer must first submit the application on your behalf, demonstrating that the company is legally registered and that the position for which you are engaged could not be filled locally.

The following documents, which support your employer’s application, may also be requested:

  • Valid Passport (minimum 6 months validity)
  • Visa application form
  • Applicant’s passport size photograph
  • Application fee
  • Entry Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour
  • Valid health certificate
  • Three copies of the employment contract – one for the employer, one for the employee and one for the Ministry of Labour
  • Education certificates
  • Professional qualification certificates
  • Sponsoring company’s valid trade license.

Note: Additional information and documentation may be required depending on the applicant’s country of origin.

Procedure for Entry Permit and work permits in Dubai

  • Obtaining Ministry of Labor permission is the first step in applying for a work visa in Dubai. This must be applied for by the employer on the employee’s behalf. The employee must complete this process prior to entering the United Arab Emirates.
  • The Ministry of Labor will grant an Entry Permit upon receipt of an approval receipt, allowing the applicant to enter Dubai lawfully. This entry permit permits a 30-day stay in the United Arab Emirates and is only valid for two months from the date of issuance.
  • The employee must start the application procedure for a labor card as soon as they arrive in the nation. The government provides an ID card for employment in a free zone, and both labor and ID cards are valid for two years. Following entry into the country, the applicant needs to apply for a Residence visa within the 60 day time and complete all formalities.
  • The applicant must now attend the Emirates ID service facility with the appropriate form, their passport, and a valid entrance permission after completing all of the previously listed requirements.
  • The employer can now apply for a resident visa from the Immigration Authorities. For their medical examination, the employer must visit any government hospital.
  • The applicant can visit the Department of Naturalization and Residency Dubai (DNRD) with all the necessary paperwork after receiving the results of the medical test to have the visa stamped on their passport.

Validity

Your employer should submit your visa application, regardless of the kind of work you plan to undertake. Your company may apply for a short-term visa on your behalf if you plan to work in the UAE for less than 30 days. For those who are just staying for a few months, there is also a 90-day multi-entry visa. In this situation, your application won’t be taken into consideration until you present documentation and proof of business registration.
